Privacy policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Lifter Hamper ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares information when you visit lifterhamper.com (the "Site"). By using the Site, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.
2. Information we collect
The Site has no user accounts, and we don't ask for your name, address or other contact details in order to use it.
Information you provide. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, the services described in section 4 collect technical and usage information: the pages you view, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, your approximate location, how you interact with pages, such as clicks and scrolling, and your IP address as it reaches those services.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to operate, maintain and protect the Site; to understand how visitors use it and improve its content and layout; to reply to your messages; and to comply with our legal obligations. For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we rely on our legitimate interests in running and measuring the Site.
4. Cookies, analytics and third-party services
Site analytics (Umami). We count page visits, the pages viewed, the referring site, your browser and device type, your approximate country, clicks on links to other sites, and whether you reached the end of an article. Umami doesn't use cookies and doesn't store your IP address. The data is stored for us by Aiven in a database in the United States and isn't shared.
Usage analytics and session recordings (PostHog). PostHog, Inc. records how pages are used: the pages visited, clicks, time on the page and how fast pages load, and, for some visits, a recording of scrolling, mouse movements and clicks, so we can see where pages are confusing. Anything typed into form fields is hidden in these recordings. PostHog keeps a random identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser's local storage to tell visits apart, and receives your IP address when your browser contacts it. PostHog doesn't record visitors in the EU or UK, or when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
Advertising (Google AdSense). The Site may show ads served by Google AdSense, an advertising service from Google LLC. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to the Site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to the Site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Amazon Associates. Some product images load from Amazon's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details when they do. When you click a link to Amazon, Amazon may set cookies on its own site to attribute any purchase to us. We don't receive any personal information about you or what you buy, only a report of total sales.
Hosting and security (Cloudflare). The Site is served by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the Site from attacks.
Display preference. If you switch between light and dark mode, your browser remembers the choice in local storage on your device. It isn't sent to us.
5. How we share information
We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers named in section 4, which process it to provide their services, and when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of the Site, its visitors or others. Amazon and Google also use information under their own privacy policies.
6. Data retention
PostHog keeps session recordings for 30 days and usage data for 1 year. Site analytics are kept for as long as they help us understand how the Site is used. We keep emails so we can provide support, answer follow-up questions and keep a record of corrections, and we delete them at your request.
7. International transfers
The services named in section 4 process and store information mainly in the United States. If you visit from another country, your information may be transferred to the United States.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you, to object to or restrict its use, or to withdraw consent. Most of what we collect can't be linked to you. To make a request, email contact@lifterhamper.com.
9. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honor Global Privacy Control: when your browser sends the signal, PostHog doesn't load. There's no agreed standard for responding to Do Not Track signals, and the Site doesn't respond to them.
10. Children's privacy
The Site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
11. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS, and we use reasonable measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
